The Audi 22/55 hp Type E was a car of the luxury class , which the Audi car factories GmbH Zwickau (from 1915 Audi Werke AG of Zwickau ) in addition to the smaller 1913 Type B , the middle type C and in large type D brought out. The 18/45 hp prototype was completed in 1911. The Type E was the largest car that Audi made before the First World War .

The vehicle had a four-cylinder IOE - Two Block - line engine with 5.7 liters cubic capacity installed in front. It developed 55 hp at 1650 rpm. It drove the rear wheels via a four-speed countershaft transmission and a cardan shaft. The car had a ladder frame and two leaf-sprung rigid axles . It was available as a four-seat touring car or four-door sedan .

350 copies were produced from 1913 to 1924.
