Audronius Ažubalis (born January 17, 1958 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian politician, member of the Seimas ' and former Foreign Minister of Lithuania .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1976, Ažubalis began studying journalism at Vilnius University . In 1989 he completed the distance learning course after serving in the army in the Soviet Union . In 1990 he studied politics and economics at the World Press Institute in St. Paul , Minnesota , ( USA ). From 1979 to 1988 he worked for the Lithuanian broadcasting company Lietuvos radijas ir televizija and from 1989 to 1990 as a correspondent for the newspaper Atgimimas von Sąjūdis . In 1993 he founded the first Lithuanian public relations center and headed it until 1996.

From 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Seimas , chairman of the committee for foreign affairs and deputy chairman of the European committee. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Seimas again, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and from February 11, 2010 to 2012 Lithuania's Foreign Minister (he was nominated as successor to Vygaudas Ušackas in January 2010 ).

From 1998 to 2000 he was president of the Lithuanian-British association “ British Chamber of Commerce ”, from 2001 of the Nacionalinė žurnalų Leidėjų asociacija.

Ažubalis is married and has daughters Eglė Marija and Aistė Valerija with his wife Loreta.
