The Church of the Resurrection was one of two churches of the Evangelical Resurrection Church Community of Kleinmachnow in the south of Berlin . The church was de-dedicated at Easter 2018 and is now owned by the Kleinmachnow community. The name of the building went to the newly built church hall on the site. The second church is the Kleinmachnow village church . Both buildings are listed .

history

The church was originally a parish hall built in 1930 , which was expanded in 1947 after the Second World War . In the early 1950s, the altar, pulpit and baptismal font were added. The current nave of the Church of the Resurrection was built in 1955. It connects the parish hall with the bell tower . The church was dedicated on April 10, 1955 at 10 a.m. during the Easter Sunday service .

After the fall of the Wall and until the 2010s, the village's evangelical congregation experienced a strong influx, so that a larger new building was decided and carried out. In a service on Good Friday 2018, the previous church was deconstructed, parishioners then carried the movable liturgical objects such as the Easter candle, the baptismal bowl, the sacrament tableware and the altar Bible into the new church hall, where they were received with a devotion . In the new church service room, a three-part mural Heavenly Ladders was given a place of honor, which was created from textiles collected in the community. The work of art should symbolize: “A part of the old always comes along. [...] Old and new are interwoven ”, and the stories of the fabrics used can affect the viewer. The new church consecration was carried out by Bishop Markus Dröge .

Furnishing

A bell that was cast in 1938 hangs in the church tower . From the bell floor there is a view of the forest surrounding the church .

The church hall is decorated with a colorful church window that was designed in the 1980s by the artist Herbert Sander . It is a mosaic of many colorful crosses and other figures. One motif is Jesus riding a donkey. There are sculptures by the artist Hermann Lohrisch in the church .

A special feature of the church is the blessing garden . The path through the garden of blessings is laid out as a cross. In the four sections, for example, there is a bed of medicinal herbs, two grass areas and a bench in front of a tree. The blessing garden is framed by two box hedges and a wall that is inscribed with biblical blessings. There is a small fountain in one of the four corners. The garden of blessings should invite prayer and reflection.
