August Falkmann

August Falkmann (born September 11, 1817 in Detmold ; † March 4, 1890 there ) was a German archivist and legal scholar .

Life

August Falkmann was a son of the teacher Christian Friedrich Falkmann . He attended the later Leopoldinum grammar school in his hometown, which was under the direction of his father. He then moved to the University of Göttingen to study law for three years. From 1839 he headed the State Archives Office in Detmold and was also a practical lawyer. He was regarded as one of the busiest lawyers in the Principality of Lippe , because from 1850 until his death no questions of constitutional law were supposed to have been decided without Falkmann's advice. He also dealt with the history of Lippe. Together with Otto Preuss he edited the Lippische Regesten . On March 4, 1890, he died at the age of 72 in Detmold.
