August Fischer (pharmacist)
August Fischer (born November 15, 1868 in Buchau ; † on the night of December 12th to 13th, 1940 in Bühl (Baden) ) was a pharmacist in Bühl (Baden).
Life
In 1905 August Fischer took over the Ludwig Hörth chemical factory, which was founded in Bühl in 1884 and was engaged in the production of inks , stamp pads , paints and adhesives . From 1924 he began developing a new adhesive to get away from the bone glue that had been common up until then . In 1932 he finally invented the world's first synthetic resin adhesive and launched it on the market under the name UHU , which is still known today . In addition to the plastic polyvinyl acetate , components were also the solvents methyl acetate and methanol as well as nitrocellulose for curing.
