August Gottlieb Preuschen
August Gottlieb Preuschen (* 1734 in Diethardt ; † March 24, 1803 in Karlsruhe ) was a German theologian , cartographer and geologist .
Life
Coming from a Luxembourg pastoral family, Prussia (also: von Preuschen auf Burg Liebenstein ) began as a young theologian in Grünstadt to write theological works, and since 1776 also geographical works. In 1771 he became court and city deacon in Karlsruhe. In 1792 he rose to the church council.
During his time as a deacon in Schopfheim at the local Latin school (today Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium ) he had Johann Peter Hebel as a gifted Latin student . He then lived in Karlsruhe for four years in the pastor's house. Preuschen invented map printing with types. However, this was disputed by the printer Breitkopf (see description of the controversy in Krünitz vol. 60 sv Land-Karte).
