August Gottlieb von Berger

August Gottlieb von Berger (born August 6, 1730 in Celle ; † January 28, 1807 in Oldenburg ) was the Oldenburg office director.

origin

He came from the Thuringian family Berger , which in 1717 by Emperor Karl VI. was raised to the nobility . The Biographical Handbook for the History of the State of Oldenburg states 1713 as the year of the ennoblement. The grandfather was the lawyer Johann Heinrich von Berger . His parents were the personal physician Johann Samuel von Berger (1657–1732) and his second wife Margarethe Louise von Ramdohr (1705–1790), daughter of Albrecht Andreas von Ramdohr . His brothers were the Hanoverian court doctor Christoph Wilhelm von Berger (1727–1763) and the Danish general Valentin von Berger (1739–1813). The personal physician of the Danish King Johann Just von Berger (1723–1791) was his older half-brother.

Life

Berger studied law at the University of Göttingen and entered the Oldenburg civil service in 1755. There he came to the government college as assessor of auscultans . Through his diligence he rose quickly. Already in 1756 he was Councilor , 1764 Judicial Council and Privy Councilor in 1773. In 1781 he finally became Vice Director of the Oldenburg Government Chancellery and Head of the Blankenburg Monastery , and in that year he was also appointed to the Conference Council. On May 11, 1799 he was appointed director of the government chancellery, an office which he held until his death. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his studies, he received the title of Dr. iur. hc

family

He married Albertine Agnes von Schilden (1745–1826) on November 1, 1766 . The couple had several children:

  • Friedrich Johann Heinrich (born December 24, 1769)
  • Bodo August (born August 12, 1776)
