August Kann (born February 19, 1871 in Vienna ; † September 11, 1937 there ) was an Austrian electrical engineer .

Life

Can August, son of the Ministerial Council of the Ministry of Railways Can August, graduated from the Institute of Technology , today Vienna University of Technology, Engineering . In 1891 he joined the Academic Association Symposion, later the Corps Symposion. After completing his studies, he stayed at the Vienna University of Technology as an assistant for general and technical physics in 1895/96. In 1896 he switched to industry at Siemens & Halske , where he worked in the test field and in the project office. In 1911 he was granted power of attorney. As director of the export office, he was responsible for high and low voltage systems in the Balkans and Egypt . Between 1903 and 1906, in addition to his industrial activities, he worked as a demonstrator at the Electrotechnical Institute of the Vienna University of Technology. In 1905 he was promoted to Dr. techn. PhD. In 1924 he was appointed full professor for electrical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. In the academic year 1934/35 he was rector of the university. From 1933 to 1934 he was President of the Electrotechnical Association of Austria , now the Austrian Association for Electrical Engineering, and Vice President of the Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects.
