August Klein Ritter von Ehrenwalten (born June 25, 1824 in Rothenstein in Bavaria, † December 22, 1890 in Vienna ) was a Bavarian- Austrian leather goods manufacturer .

Life

August Klein learned the bookbinding trade and came to Vienna from Nuremberg in 1845 . There he initially worked for various companies, but was soon able to sell smaller positions in the larger cities of the Austrian Empire . In 1847 he set up his own company for leather goods in Vienna , which quickly became successful. In 1854 he was able to join a department for bronze and wood gallantry products and in 1859 took up the manufacture of handkerchiefs .

In 1851 he traveled to Germany and France , which were the leading importers of leather goods in Austria at the time. August Klein managed to gain access to the French market, and he was able to employ a representative in Paris , which in 1856 was converted into a defeat of his own . In 1863 another defeat opened in London .

August Klein's products have received awards at numerous exhibitions. He was the first manufacturer in Austria who produced these haberdashery goods in a way that went beyond the small business. They were trend-setting in fashion issues and were able to achieve great importance on the world market at that time through exports to France, England, America , etc. For his services August Klein was awarded the title "Knight of Honor reign" in 1881 by Emperor I Franz Joseph ge ennobles . Due to his merits and the high quality of his products, he was appointed as the imperial court supplier for leather, wood and bronze goods.
