August Reddigau (born February 1, 1878 in Schackensleben , † June 15, 1963 in Halle ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

August Reddigau was born on February 1, 1878 in Schackensleben. After an apprenticeship, he worked as a miner in industry. He was a union member and from 1903 to 1905 was a shop steward for the miners' association . From August 1905 to 1933 he was the full-time district manager of the Miners' Association based in Braunschweig , since 1907 in Hötensleben , since 1909 in Hanover , since 1911 in Salzungen , since 1921 in Sangerhausen and since 1923 in Halle an der Saale. He also worked from 1907 to 1909 as a part-time manager of the consumer association in Hötensleben. During the time of National Socialism, Reddigau lived secluded in Burgtonna . After 1945 he lived in Halle, where he died on June 15, 1963.

Reddigau joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) during the time of the German Empire . From 1903 to 1905 he was a shop steward for the SPD and in 1913/14 he was the chairman of the SPD constituency organization for Saxony-Meiningen. From 1914 to 1918 he was a member of the state parliament in the state parliament of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , from 1919 to 1920 a member of the state parliament in the Free State of Saxony-Meiningen . After 1945 he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED).
