August Roth (forester)

August Roth (born October 10, 1823 in Mosbach , † May 8, 1889 in Zwingenberg (Baden) ) was a German forester .

Life

August Roth was born in Lohrbach Castle in Baden . He attended the Wertheim High School , later the Karlsruhe Forestry School and passed his state examination in 1846. In Karlsruhe he became a member of the Teutonia fraternity . After completing an internship at various locations, he became a princely Liningian forest taxator and, in 1851, the municipal district forester in Bretten . In 1856 he entered the service of the margrave of Baden and administered the rulership of Zwingenberg, initially under the title of chief foresterand from 1871 as forester. In 1883 Zwingenberg was donated to the Grand Duke of Baden. Roth remained in his position, which he held until his death despite more than 20 years of stomach problems.

Roth worked as an author for the Forstwissenschaftliche Centralblatt and wrote more than 50 articles.
