August Seidel (painter)
August Seidel (born October 5, 1820 in Munich ; † September 2, 1904 there ) was a German landscape painter and a brother of the painter Franz Seidel (1818–1903).
Seidel studied from November 2, 1836 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich and privately with Carl Rottmann . After graduating, he worked as a landscape painter in Munich. From 1838 he was a member of the Munich Artists' Association. In 1845 he went on a study trip to Italy , in 1863 he visited Paris .
The influence of John Constable and the Barbizon School can be seen in his paintings . His works are u. a. in the collections of the Neue Pinakothek .
Seidel's grave is located in Munich's Ostfriedhof (grave 44-2-25).
