Augustin Gattinger
Augustin Gattinger (born February 3, 1825 in Munich , † July 18, 1903 in Nashville ) was an American botanist and doctor of German descent. Various plant species such as Gattinger's goldenrod or “Gattinger's Mock-orange”, a type of pipe bush, bear his name. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Gatt. ".
Life
August (in) Gattinger closed the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich in 1844 . He then studied philosophy and medicine in Munich . In 1849 he emigrated to Nashville (Tennessee / USA).
