Kit

The Auhagen GmbH is a manufacturer of model railroad accessories from Marienberg in the Erzgebirge . The company has been producing building kits in nominal sizes TT , H0 and N since 1952 . There are also models for double use H0 / TT, which are made on a 1: 100 scale.

history

In 1885 Heinrich Auhagen founded a cardboard factory in the Marienberg district of Hüttengrund , which after the unexpected death of Heinrich Auhagen in 1919 was passed on to his son Rudolf. When his son Rudolf Auhagen Junior returned from the war in 1946, Auhagen also began refining the cardboard produced . In addition to the production of cardboard packaging , the embossing of jam jar lids and the punching of Christmas tree decorations began. As early as 1952, the company began manufacturing model houses , the kits being made of cardboard and the facades being shaped accordingly. In 1958, Auhagen Senior and Junior then jointly founded the “H. Auhagen KG ”. In 1970/71, cardboard production was stopped, the company was modernized and the range of buildings changed from cardboard to plastic kits.

In 1972 it was nationalized as a state-owned company , and Auhagen KG became "VEB Modellspielwaren Marienberg-Hüttengrund". This was assigned to the "Kombinat Holzspielwaren VERO Olbernhau". The model kits were no more than Auhagen kits, but as Mamo-kits (from now Ma rien berger Mo dell s distributed pielwaren). In 1979 VEB Modellbahn Zubehör Marienberg (formerly Karl Scheffler KG) was incorporated into the company. Thus, production was expanded to include, for example, terrain mats, trees and level crossings. In 1980, the company was subordinated to VEB Vero Olbernhau and renamed VEB Vero Werk 5, Marienberg-Hüttengrund, which in 1981 was linked to the Sonneberg Toys Combine.

Reprivatisation

In 1990 the company was re-privatized and the production of model railway accessories and cardboard boxes continued. In 1993 the "Auhagen GmbH model toys and packaging" was founded. In 1996, Auhagen took over the former VERO model railway accessories production from Olbernhau from a trust company and relocated it to the company's headquarters in Marienberg.

The production facilities were badly damaged by a storm in 1999 in the Middle Ore Mountains when the Schlettenbach overflowed its banks on July 5, 1999 as a result of a cloudburst . The subsequent investments in flood protection were largely able to minimize the damage caused by the 2002 floods .

The company, which has been called Auhagen GmbH since 2007, is currently active in the business areas of model railroad accessories, tool and mold construction, plastic injection molding and cardboard packaging. Until August 2019, the company was family-owned in the fourth generation.
