Aurela was a Lithuanian charter airline based in Vilnius and based at Vilnius Airport .
history
Aurela was founded in 1995 as the first private airline in Lithuania and started operations in 1996 with a Tupolev Tu-134A . In 2001 a Hawker HS-125-700, an eight-seat aircraft, was procured for VIP flights. In 2003 the fleet was expanded to include a JAK-42D. In 2004, the year Lithuania became a member of the European Union , the JAK-42D was replaced by a Boeing 737-300 for economic reasons. The most prominent passengers in 2004 and 2005 were the Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus and Pope John Paul II. Due to the strict rules for flights in the EU, the JAK-42 was finally phased out in 2005 and returned to the leasing company. In 2006 a second 737-300 was rented and a new Hawker 850XP was purchased for VIP charter flights. In the meantime, the fleet has been expanded to include two Boeing 757-200s, which have since been taken out of service. The main customer for charter flights was the tourism company Novaturas Travel Company from 2006 onwards .
In 2011 the company achieved a profit of 5.8 million Litas and a turnover of 24 million Litas. The share capital was 4.01 million Lt. In 2011 Aurela was taken over by the Cypriot investment company "Servolian Investments". Since Aurela could not meet the financial requirements of the Ministry of Aviation, the airline's license was revoked on February 18, 2013. In July 2013 the bankruptcy proceedings were opened. The company employed over 80 people.
Destinations
From Vilnius, Aurela offered scheduled flights to Berlin, Frankfurt and Hanover as well as other destinations in Europe. There are also charter flights for tourism companies in holiday regions such as southern Europe and Africa as well as special summer flights to Tel Aviv.
fleet
Before operations ceased, the Aurela fleet consisted of a 25-year-old Boeing 737-300 with the aircraft registration LY-SKA .
