Small Planet Airlines Boeing 737-300

Small Planet Airlines was a Lithuanian charter airline based in Vilnius and based at Vilnius Airport . It was a subsidiary of the Small Planet Group .

history

Small Planet Airlines was formed in 2010 as the successor to the insolvent FlyLAL Charters and, in addition to part of the staff, took over three Boeing 737-300s and one Boeing 757-200 from their holdings. More Boeing 737-300s followed in 2011 and 2012. The timely modernization of the fleet, announced at the same time, did not begin until 2013 with the introduction of three Airbus A320-200s into the fleet .

In April 2013, the company's managers, Vytautas Kaikaris and Andrius Staniulis, bought 99.5 percent of the shares in Avia Solutions Group owned by the Lithuanian entrepreneur Gediminas Žiemelis . In 2014, the various Small Planet Airlines were bundled in the Small Planet Group holding . The last Boeing 737-300 was phased out at the end of 2015, at that time the fleet consisted of eight Airbus A320-200s.

To compensate for the seasonal fluctuations in charter business, worked Small Planet Airlines with the Cambodian Sky Angkor Airlines together and put this for the winter season 2014/15 two, for the winter season 2015/16 and four for the winter season 2016/17 one Airbus A320-200 available . This served Chinese goals. At the end of 2017, two Airbus A320-200s were handed over to the newly founded Cambodian sister company .

In September 2018, the German subsidiary of Small Planet Airlines had to file for bankruptcy. This also had an impact on the Polish and Lithuanian companies, as planned assignments for the German subsidiary were canceled and the fleets therefore had to be reduced. As a result, the Polish subsidiary also had to file for bankruptcy on October 8 and the parent company on October 23 of the same year.

On October 23, 2018, Small Planet Lithuania announced that it would operate eight machines in winter, four of them in Europe and two each in Thailand and Cambodia.

The application for restructuring proceedings was rejected by the competent court in Vilnius, as a result of which the Lithuanian civil aviation authority Small Planet Airlines withdrew the air operator certificate on November 28, 2018 . Operations had to be stopped on November 29, 2018.
