The Diestelbach (also called "Diestel" ) is an 11.3 km long orographically left tributary of the Emmer in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

course

The Diestelbach rises at an altitude of approx. 250  m above sea level. NN on the 426 m high Winterberg in the Blomberg city forest. From its source, the water flows west down to Blomberg . After flowing through Blomberg, the Diestelbach turns to the south and takes its first named tributary, the Königsbach , south of Blomberg near Borkhausen . From this point the Diestelbach continues to flow in a south-easterly direction, touches Nessenberg and flows west of Schieder at an altitude of 123  m above sea level. NN at KM 35.2 in the Emmer.

Tributaries

In addition to 3 unnamed tributaries, the Diestelbach has two named tributaries, which are listed below when viewed downstream:

  • Duddenloch: 1.788 km long, left tributary south of Blomberg at KM 4 at 135  m above sea level. NN
  • Königsbach : 8.755 km long, right tributary at KM 3.2 at 130  m above sea level. NN

Up to its confluence with the Diestelbach, the Königsbach covered a larger stretch of river and drained a larger area (39.726 km²) than the Diestelbach (8.1 km, 18.261 km²). Accordingly, the body of water should actually be called “Königsbach” from this point on.

Water quality

The Diestelbach is moderately polluted and belongs to water quality class II. The stream is polluted by sewage from the Blomberg sewage treatment plant and the Blomberg wood industry, which reach the Diestelbach via the Königsbach.
