List of bodies of water in Ostwestfalen-Lippe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Main rivers of the region

The list of bodies of water in Ostwestfalen-Lippe contains a selection of rivers and lakes that are wholly or partially located in Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL). The waters are divided into the major river systems Weser, Lippe and Ems. Furthermore, they are partly divided into further sub-areas within these areas. The list does not contain all named bodies of water OWL, but at least all bodies of water with a total catchment area of at least 10 square kilometers. The list of lakes is not a complete list of all named lakes, especially because the delimitation to ponds is not always clear. Near Detmold , the Rhine-Weser watershed , the Weser-Ems watershed and the Rhine-Ems watershed meet on the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest in a hydrographic watershed that has been marked with the three river stone since 2009 .

Systematics

Flowing waters

System: name of the water body (no., L / R, circle)

All tributaries are ordered downstream in relation to the respective main river. The tributaries are indented according to their order in the river system:

  • 1st order (river flows into the sea)
    • 2nd order (river flows into a 1st order river, i.e. one that flows into the sea)
      • 3rd order (river flows into a 2nd order river)
        • 4th order (analogous, see above)

Lakes

System: name of the water body (municipality, district, water area, possibly origin / type)

  • Circle: see above.
  • Water area: in hectares
  • Origin / type: reservoir, quarry pond, oxbow lake, natural origin, etc.

The lakes are arranged according to size. If the lake is the largest lake in a district, the district name is shown in bold.

Hunte → Weser

Note: In the catchment area of the Hunte, the brooks shown are often only drainage ditches or canals that cannot be described using the usual hierarchy of a classic river system with main and tributaries, as there is no constant flow direction. Therefore, it is only hinted at here how the waters are connected to the main river.
