The Ruthenbach is a 9.2 km long, left tributary of the Ems , into which it flows northeast of the Clarholz district of Herzebrock-Clarholz .

It is not to be confused with the Ruthebach , whose official name is also Ruthenbach and which arises from a bifurcation from the Rhedaer Bach in Halle (Westphalia) .

In the floodplain of the Ruthenbach there is an occurrence of the Helmet Azure Damsel , which is one of the rarest dragonfly species in North Rhine-Westphalia.
