River course

The Trüggelbach rises in the south of the Brackwede district of Bielefeld . There the water is created as the drainage of a spring pond, which is not far from the Brackweder Thyssen Krupp plant in a wooded area.

Confluence of the Tüterbach (above)

The flattening of the Teutoburg Forest following the Trüggelbach flows in southwestern direction from, by pulling first the green area in the Brackweder lake and then performs on the edge of a nature reserve designated area alder and birch break at Southwest field over before he right side inflows Sunderbach and Tüterbach receives and then turns to Ummeln . The village is passed in the south, here the Trüggelbach forms the border of the settlement focus. To the southwest of Ummeln, the stream finally flows into the Lutter after crossing meadows, which flows into the Ems . During its entire course, the body of water is exclusively in the area of the Brackweder district, as Ummeln also belongs to this district.

The Trüggelbach overcomes a height difference of 35 meters during its flow section, resulting in an average bed gradient of 6.4 ‰.

environment

The Trüggelbach is assigned to water quality class II for the major part of its course and is therefore considered to be "moderately polluted", in the upper reaches near the source also as "critically polluted" (quality class II-III). The water quality is impaired, among other things, by the inflow of the Sunderbach or its inflow Grippenbach , which is classified as "very heavily polluted" below its rain retention basin .

etymology

The term "Trüggel" is probably derived from the word "Trugloh", a deceptive "Loh" . The forest formerly covered a wide swamp area, which stretched to the right and left of the Trüggelbach and was probably only accessible to those who knew the area.
