The Jöllenbecker Mühlenbach is a left tributary of the Johannisbach in the northeast of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

The water has a total length of 9.9 km. The catchment area extends over part of the Ravensberger Mulde between Aa and Else . The water rises in the north of Jöllenbeck in the Nagelsholz area and flows into the Johannisbach (river kilometer 13.5) and the Obersee near Schildesche . With the creation of the Johannisbach flood , which leads the water of the Johannisbach and the Jöllenbecker Mühlenbach along the north bank around the Obersee, the Jöllenbeck Mühlenbach was also separated from the Obersee and now flows directly into the new river bed of the Johannisbach.

The water flows through the following communities on its way from the source to the mouth:

The longest part of its course is the Grenzbach brook of the mentioned communities. On its way, the water includes the following waters when viewed downstream:

(L / R; KM): Left, right tributary, at river kilometers, mouth at KM 0

The longer and more watery strand upstream across all estuaries is, in terms of hydrology, the main strand of a river system and mostly also the name of the main river. From this point of view, the water reaches the Johannisbach under the name Jöllenbecker Mühlenbach . The less arid Jölle, on the other hand, is a tributary. Deviating from this, in the official water stationing and geodata, the partial waters of Jölle and Jöllenbecker Mühlenbach from the confluence of the Jölle are combined into a single body of water called Jölle ( GSK 46452).

Historic watermills on the Jöllenbeck mill stream

The Jöllenbecker Mühlenbach used to provide the drive energy for four water mills , the locations of which were already recorded on a map from 1805. The buildings have since been laid down or rebuilt several times, so that today no traces of the old mill landscape can be seen.

  • Peppmühle: Peppmöller farm in Jöllenbeck
  • Belzmühle: Hof Upmeyer zu Belzen in Jöllenbeck
  • Niedick's mill: in Vilsendorf
  • Steinsieks Mühle : Schildesche, today Brake
