The Fortbach (also Forthbach ) is an orographically left tributary of the Grubebach in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . It has a length of 19.6 km.
River course
The Fortbach arises in the Beckum Mountains east of the Mackenberg and flows off in an easterly direction. First of all, the water leads north past the Sünninghausen district , which belongs to the city of Oelde , from the left the Schmalenbach, which is similar in length at the confluence, and then from the right the Tienenbach. After flowing through the Wibberich farming community, it is the boundary between the town of Oelde and the municipality of Wadersloh on a 3.2 km long section before entering the municipality of Langenberg .
After the Fortbach has passed the Langenberg local area to the north, it turns to the northeast and enters the urban area of Rietberg , where the water is also known as Schwalenbach . After the right-hand tributary of the Upper Schwalenbaches of Fort brook flows north of Rietberger district Bokel left side to in this section as Bokel-Mastholter main channel designated pit Bach after only a few meters coming in from right above Lannertbach is on leads.
The Fortbach overcomes a height difference of 70 meters during its course of flow, resulting in an average bed gradient of 3.6 ‰.
Characteristic
The course of the Fortbach can be divided into three types of flowing water : From the source to the Langenberg municipal boundary, the water is a gravel-shaped lowland stream (type 16); from there to the crossing of the B 55 north of Langenberg, the Fortbach is assigned to the water type " sand-shaped lowland streams " (type 14). In the lower reaches to the mouth, the brook, with its increasingly broad floodplain, is a small low-lying river in river and river valleys (type 19).
