The Mackenberg near Sünninghausen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Warendorf is 174.4  m above sea level. NHN the highest point in the Beckum Mountains .

location

The Mackenberg is located in the northeast of the Beckum Mountains. Its summit rises almost 2 km west-northwest of the village church of Sünninghausen and 2.3 km (as the crow flies ) southwest of Keitlinghausen , a southern district of Oelde . The city boundary to Beckum runs over the west and southwest flank of the elevation.

Part of the Rhine-Ems watershed runs over the wooded Mackenberg . While the Axtbach , which rises to the northeast, and the Grubebach tributary, the Fortbach, flow to the Ems, the Liese (Liesebach) , which rises in the west, and the Boxelbach , which swells east of the elevation , drain through the Glenne and the Lippe into the Rhine .

Natural allocation

The Mackenberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Westfälische Bucht (No. 54), in the main unit Kernmünsterland (541) and in the subunit Beckumer Berge (541.3) to the natural area Beckumer Mulde (541.33) and forms its eastern tip, with its landscape to the north, east and south into the Stromberger Platte (541.31) natural area .

Protected areas

On the northern flank of the Mackenberg lies the Mackenberg nature reserve ( CDDA no. 82129; designated 1950; 6  hectares in size). To extend to its west, southwest and south flank parts of the protected landscape Beckum Hills (CDDA No. 319845;., 1984; 21.22  km² ).

About 300 m east-northeast from the summit of Mount Mack is located near one to 172.9  m lying height trigonometric point of the transmitter Oelde (Mack Berg) . On January 1, 2000, it was put into operation with a steel lattice tower.

Traffic and walking

On the northwest and north flank of Mount Mack leads between Keitlinghausen and Beckum the road collecting 586. Of these branches some west-southwest to the south of it, and the court Roxel over after Sünninghausen leading county road  23 from. Between the two streets, the narrow street Am Mackenberg runs east of the Mackenberg past the Mackenberg farm . For example, starting at these roads, the elevation can be hiked on forest paths and paths.
