The Vombach , also called Rohrbach in the upper reaches , is an approximately 7.8 km long, northern and orographically left tributary of the Diemel in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse . It runs in the districts of the towns of Borgentreich in East Westphalia and Liebenau in North Hesse .

Course and catchment area

The Vombach rises as Rohrbach in the East Westphalian district of Höxter in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park in the Warburger Börde . Its source is about 1.4 km northeast of the center of the center of Körbecke , an eastern district of Borgentreich . It is located in an agricultural area at around 218  m above sea level. NHN .

Initially the Vombach flows westwards and then southwards. After the confluence of a 4.8 km long brook, also called Vombach, which rises about 2.5 km north-northeast of Körbecke east of the Körbecker Bruch nature reserve at about 225  m  ( ) altitude, it runs south-east and touches Körbecke to the west, around then to flow through its southern residential areas. A little further south, the stream forms the border to the north Hessian district of Kassel and runs along the nature park border .

After leaving the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park, the Vombach, which now flows in northern Hesse, reaches the core town of Liebenau , where the Märchenlandweg crosses it and flows into the Weser tributary Diemel, which comes from the south-west, at about 141  m above sea level .

The catchment area of the Vombach with a few small tributaries , including the river near Körbecke, also known as the Vombach, is 19.509 km² in size.
