The Darmühlenbach (often just called Mühlenbach up to kilometer 5.8) is a left tributary of the Else in Rödinghausen and Bünde in East Westphalia and thus belongs to the Weser river system .
Source, course and mouth
The stream rises in Bieren at the Bieren train station and flows into the Else after 7.7 kilometers. The source height is 100 m above sea level. NN . On its way to Gut Böckel it takes in numerous smaller streams. In addition to a few unnamed bodies of water, these include the Grenzbach in Bieren at km 6.4 and the Dornmühlenbach at km 5.3. The moat of the moated castle Gut Böckel at km 5.8 is fed by the Darmühlenbach and once powered the estate's watermill . At 3.1 km it flows through the Ziegeleigrube Ennigloh nature reserve in Bünde. At 2.1 km it takes up the Holser Bach (also called Ärftbach ) on the right. At kilometer 1.0 it crosses under the federal highway 30 . At river kilometer 12 the Darmühlenbach flows into the Else at Bünde- Ahle . The mouth height is around 60 m above sea level. NN . This means that the Darmühlenbach has overcome a height of around 40 meters on its 7.7 kilometer run.
The catchment area has a size of 17.39 km².
nature
In bundling Ennigloh the 4.5 is ha large nature reserve brickyard Ennigloh . The nature reserve is located on the east bank of the Darmühlenbach and west of the Bünde - Rahden railway line . The area is a former clay pit. Around the pit there are species-rich still waters with floating leaf vegetation, in the eastern and northern part of the area there are two shallow, mostly sunny, small bodies of water. Numerous amphibians live in these waters.
