The Brucht is about 22 kilometers long left tributary of the Nethe in the northern district of Höxter .

course

The Brucht rises at about 292 meters above sea level , about 500 meters east of Großenbreden , a district of the city of Marienmünster in the Höxter district. From there the ravine flows in a south-westerly direction to Marienmünster-Vörden and meanders, maintaining its direction of flow, to Bellersen .

2 kilometers southwest of Bellersen, the rift takes on the Grundbach from the right, which rises near Nieheim - Holzhausen . The Mühlenbach, which rises between Pömbsen and Erwitzen , the Emder Bach, which rises south of Pömbsen, and a heavily pouring karst spring flow into the Grundbach ; The Grundbach only carries water temporarily above this source. From the confluence of the Grundbach, the rift flows almost in a straight line to the south towards Hinnenburg / Gut Schäferhof and Brakel ; here the rift in the rivulet named after it east of the Brede occasionally overflows its banks very quickly after heavy rain and floods the meadows there . An old weir was removed there in the summer of 2014 and a bottom slide was built. This means that the fish can now migrate unhindered from the mouth in the Nethe over a distance of 11 kilometers to Bellersen. As a result, however, some water continues to flow through the mill ditch, where two mills used to be, but none of them are in operation today. The arm that takes up the excess water, the actual break, is called here "wharf water". After about 700 meters both arms join again, from here it is about 800 meters to the confluence with the Nethe at 137 meters above sea level.

Tributaries

The largest inflow is the Grundbach, which is described in more detail in the text. Furthermore, viewed from the source to the mouth, the smaller streams, including the Strullbach, Schlingbach, Heberbach, Sepkerbach, Röthebach, Meierbach, Hakesbach and the Siechenbach, flow into the ravine. In addition, several small, nameless rivulets flow into the ravine in the upper and middle reaches .
