history

The name Pömbsen was first mentioned in 1015 at the time of the Paderborn bishop Meinwerk (1009-1036), when the priest Wulfdag received the church in oppido Pumissun . The Church of the Assumption of Mary is visible from afar, at an altitude of 315 m in the middle of the mountain village. The Pömbsen parish is one of the oldest in the region. In 1036 Pömbsen came to the Busdorfstift in Paderborn . In 1299 Nieheim was divorced, and in 1304 the parish was incorporated into the Marienmünster monastery. Today's parish of Assumption still includes the St. Johannes Nepomuk parish in Langeland and Erpentrup and the St. Martinus parish in Reelsen . It is part of the Bad Driburg Pastoral Association in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

The village burned down in 1531 and 1600. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Pömbsen was the knight's seat of the Prince Diocese of Paderborn . In 1871 the Jewish community built a synagogue , which was demolished after the pogrom of November 9, 1938 . There were numerous entered places in the district. Among them was the Amriki farm , mentioned in the Corveyer traditions in 854 , which was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . The name lives on in the stream name Emmerke ("small Emmer"), a tributary of the Emmer , which is incorrectly mentioned in almost all maps of Mühlenbach . This area with the mineral spring in the “Bornwiese” was acquired in 1859 by the Hermannsborner Verein based in Dortmund for the purpose of using the mineral well.

On January 1, 1970, Pömbsen was incorporated into the city of Bad Driburg.

Bad Hermannsborn

Historic Kurhaus Bad Hermannsborn

In 1924 the Barmer Ersatzkasse acquired the source and in 1924/1925 built the Hermannsborn spa with the 18-hectare spa park. The listed complex is entered through the entrance arcades, which open in a semi-oval to the spa gardens. The Kastanienallee rises to the higher main building. This building has a neo-baroque , castle-like character, especially emphasized by the colonnades at the entrance. Artificial ponds and watercourses were created in the park. Rhododendron hedges and flowers that change with the season shape the beauty of the park. As a rehabilitation clinic, the existing building was modernized and expanded to 225 beds. The indications for rehabilitation procedures are metabolic diseases , diabetes , osteoporosis , heart and circulatory diseases. Since September 1, 2006, the clinic has been part of the Bad Driburg Graf von Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff group of companies under the name Park-Klinik Bad Hermannsborn . Today the clinic has 216 beds.
