Langeland is a district of Bad Driburg in the district of Höxter , North Rhine-Westphalia, with 201 inhabitants .
geography
Langeland lies on the eastern slope of the Egge Mountains. The immediate neighborhoods are Hohenbreden , Erpentrup and Reelsen . The Emmer , a tributary of the Weser , has its source near Langeland and flows through the village towards Erpentrup , where it receives the Breitenbach.
history
Langeland is also called the rose hip country, as a lot of rose hips grow in the area around Langeland.
The legend of the black cross says that once a charcoal burner was attacked by robbers at that place in the forest and burned in the shape of a cross in his kiln . The charred corpse of the charcoal burner is said to have been lying on the floor in a cross shape. A black cross was set up as a reminder.
The station Langeland is situated on the railway line Hannover-Altenbeken and the railway Altenbeken-Kreiensen . In the 1950s, the Langeland depot got a platform for passenger traffic. However, this was dismantled at the end of the 1960s. Since then, Langeland railway station has been a pure depot again .
On January 1, 1970, Langeland was incorporated into the city of Bad Driburg.
