geography

View from the south along the K 52 to Kühlsen

The place is a good 8 km as the crow flies south of the Driburg city center in a valley at the eastern foot of the 409 m high and wooded Steinberg , from which the Kühlser name affix "the Steinbergdorf" is derived. The Steinberg with its northern side elevations called Kirchberg and Essenberg belongs to the 906 hectare Driburg nature reserve "Gradberg" , which is mainly characterized by woodruff beech forests and is largely an FFH area . In the northeast, the Kühlser Tal is framed by the 303 m high Dornberg and in the southeast by the 326 m high Rietholz . The Ellerbach brook, which rises in the Dörenwiesen north of the village (Im Ellern), flows off to the east and flows into the Öse after a little more than a kilometer below Dringenberg .

Neighboring are the two districts of Driburg, Neuenheerse in the west and Dringenberg in the east. The next northern settlement is the forest village of Siebenstern , which belongs to Dringenberg , and the Willebadessen district of Altenheerse is in the south .

history

Local history is sometimes referred to a document from 952, in which a place Culisin is mentioned; however, the assignment to cooling is uncertain.

The first known landlords in Kühlsen were the Knights of Brakel in the Middle Ages . In 1351 the canon lady Alheidis von Zegenberg donated half of her recently acquired farm in Küdelsen to Heerse Abbey . Since then, the history of Kühlser has been closely linked to Neuenheerse .

In 1766 a storm destroyed the local church building and 13 houses. In the following year, the single-nave St. Joseph's Chapel , which still exists today, was rebuilt. It has a small baroque altar taken from Neuenheerse and was renovated in 1955 and 2006. Kühlsen belongs to the catchment area of the Catholic parish of St. Saturnina, Neuenheerse in the pastoral network of Bad Driburg.

When the Dringenberg-Gehrden office was dissolved by the Sauerland / Paderborn law , the municipality of Kühlsen was incorporated into the city of Bad Driburg on January 1, 1975, together with Dringenberg and Neuenheerse.

politics

The mayor of Kühlsen is Sascha van Plüer (CDU).

Infrastructure

The district road 52 (Kühlser Dorfstrasse) leads through the village . Buses of the Paderborn / Höxter (nph) local transport network run regularly on the Bad Driburg – Willebadessen – Neuenheerse – Paderborn ( BahnBus-Hochstift –Line 540) and Willebadessen – Dringenberg – Schwaney – Paderborn (line 201) lines; There are two stops in the Kühlser area ( church and Zum Dornberg ).

The Steinberghalle in the center of the town, which is maintained by a hall operator association, serves as a local event space, for example for public meetings, for the Schützenball of the St. Josef Schützenbruderschaft Kühlsen and for the Kühlsen Carnival Festival.

On the south-western edge of the village is the local cemetery with a small cemetery chapel .

The fire brigade extinguishing group Kühlsen belongs to fire brigade 2 of the Bad Driburg volunteer fire brigade .
