The Postal Herbram is an Outbound medieval moated castle , which a knight's seat of the Lords of Herse was and in Herbram , City Lichtenau in the circle Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany was.

location

The Burgstall is located in a meadow south of the Herbramer St. Johannes Bapt. Church as well as between this and the Schmittwasser at an altitude of 277 m.

history

Although the Lords of Herse pawned six hooves at Herbram and half of a "castle", the location of which begins with an "H", to the ravens of Canstein in 1360 , the literature assumes that the "burgstede" at Heerse is meant by this .

In 1394 the brothers Hermann and Ludolf von Heerse divided their property in Herbram among themselves. Since Hermann sold his share in Driburg Castle to his brother Ludolph in the same year , Michael Lagers assumes that he will build a new castle in Herbram .

In 1443 the Westphal acquired the possessions and the castle of the dying Lords of Herse in Herbram , who had them as fiefs from Heerse Abbey . Only now is there a clear mention of an inhabited house in Herbram . The sale was fought by Heinrich Valepage , a grandson of Hermann von Herses , but the Westphal finally acquired all rights to the village of Herbram .

According to local tradition, Gut Herbram continues its economic function, while the neighboring Imburg took on the function of a fortification. The Imburg no longer exists. The tradition mentioned has not yet been verified, even if Westphal's sole ownership of Herbram provides a certain indication of this. However, they owned three knight seats in Herbram that could be landscaped .

Remains of the castle could still be seen until the middle of the 20th century.

Todays use

Today the area of the castle stable is used agriculturally as pasture .

description

When it is dry, the course of a moat and an approximately 25 × 25 m foundation can be identified on the basis of vegetation features . No information can be given on the remains that existed until the middle of the 20th century.
