Engar is a district of Willebadessen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Höxter in Germany . Until it was incorporated on January 1, 1975, Engar was an independent municipality in the Peckelsheim district .
Location and traffic
The place is in the valley of the Eder . In Engar, the K 14 from Löwen to Nörde and the K15 from Ikenhausen to Hohenwepel cross and run together for a short time.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in the period from 918-37 as "Engeri", when Bishop Unwan of Paderborn converted the tithe to Engar, which had previously been owned as a fief by the Abbey of Heerse, into free property . Around 1250 the Willebadessen monastery owned two houses in "Engere".
In 1779 there was a noble estate and a dairy in "Enger" owned by the Lords of Schade .
In 1975, Engar was united with the towns of Peckelsheim and Willebadessen and the communities of Altenheerse, Borlinghausen, Eissen, Fölsen, Helmern, Ikenhausen, Löwen, Niesen, Schweckhausen and Willegassen to form the town of Willebadessen.
