Fölsen is a district of Willebadessen in the district of Höxter , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Since it was first mentioned in a document in 1215 ("Voltessen"), Fölsen has belonged to the secular rule of the German diocese of Paderborn , originally in the duchy of Saxony . Fölsen was a parish early on . It was initially the seat of a Count Erpo. The ownership changed later, so in 1391 the knight Gerhard von Spiegel was the owner of the village. The landowner was the Paderborn Cathedral Chapter . From the 14th century, the territory of the prince-bishopric of Paderborn ( Hochstift ) was formed in the Holy Roman Empire , and from the 16th century it became part of the Lower Rhine-Westphalian Empire . In 1802/03 the bishopric was occupied by the Kingdom of Prussia . In Napoleonic times the place was part of the Kingdom of Westphalia . From 1815 Fölsen belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia, from 1871 it was part of the German Empire . From 1945 to 1949 Borgentreich was part of the British zone of occupation , from 1946 state governed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and from 1949 also by the Federal Republic of Germany .

On January 1, 1975, Fölsen was incorporated into Willebadessen.

Buildings

The parish church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1746 in the baroque style. The church was donated by Engelhard von Bochholtz and Theresa von Asseburg . The confessionals came from the Dalheim monastery, which was dissolved in 1803 . The older rectory dates from 1697 and is now privately owned.
