Parish Church of St. Johann Baptist

The Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Baptist is a listed church building in Fölsen , a district of Willebadessen in the Höxter district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The parish has existed since the 13th century. The hall church with a curved choir was built from 1746 to 1747 from plastered quarry stone . The narrow west tower is transversely in front. In the interior there are pillar-like bases for figures between the windows. In the choir, there are narrow, pointed templates.

Furnishing

  • The three wooden pilaster retables on display were donated in 1748. The sculptures are works by Johann Theodor Axer . The altar leaves are younger.
  • The life-size figures of the evangelists and the apostles Peter and Paul stand on the wall plinths. They are from J. Th. Axer.
  • The figures of Anthony and Aloysius face the organ empore and are probably of Axer.
  • The holy water font is a sandstone block with ancient Roman reliefs.
  • The pulpit is marked 1701, on the sound cover is a figure of the good shepherd from more recent times.
  • The two magnificent confessionals come from the Lichtenau-Dahlheim monastery and are marked 1731.
  • The organ prospect was built in the middle of the 19th century.
  • The bell was cast at the end of the 12th century and comes from the Abdinghof monastery in Paderborn.

Rectory

The former large rectory to the west was built in 1697 using a four-column construction.
