The Eder is a 13.0 km long orographically right or western tributary of the Eggel in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

geography

course

The brook Eder rises and runs in eastern Westphalia in the district of Höxter . Its source is located in Bonenburg , a north-western part of Warburg on the south-eastern foothills of the Eggegebirge , just under 100 m (as the crow flies ) north of the village church southwest of the Hollberg.

The Eder mostly flows in an easterly direction through parts of the Warburger Börde via Engar and south past Deppenhöfen (each a district of Willebadessen ) and the B 252 crossing through the village of Großeneder , to not far north of Lütgeneder (each a district of Borgentreich ) or directly north of the B 241 to flow into the Eggel coming from the north . The latter two villages were named after the brook.

The relatively small brook already had the water power in Großeneder to drive three mills.
