Großenbreden is a district of the city of Marienmünster in the Höxter district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

95 inhabitants live in Großenbreden today. The agricultural place has a village atmosphere. The listed chapel with two old linden trees in front of it was built in 1747 and consecrated to St. James . In 2009, the green village , as it is called because of its dense tree population, was named the village of the future in the Höxter district .

history

Between the Oldenburg and Vörden , the Münsterholze , the Hungerberg and Löwendorf, there was a larger town until the first half of the 16th century: Wendedhen (1188), Winethe (1203), Winethen (1240), Wenethen (1241), Wenden ( 1430) was called. The tithe was to be paid to the Marienmünster Abbey .

In the registers of the Corvey monastery , the place is mentioned as early as 980 under the name Wynithun . In the 16th century, the three villages of Großenbreden are from Wenden (Wendenbreden 1541, Wendelbreden 1650, Großenwendelbreden 1793); Kleinenbreden (Lütkenbreden 1650, Lükewendelbreden 1793) and Papenhöfen (formerly the Höfe zu Wenden 1545) were created. The Bönekenberg farmers belonging to Papenhöfen appear as a local index from 1430. This settlement emerged in the 16th century instead of the submerged village of Mechtestorpe (1138) or Mestorp (1339), where the Corvey monastery was already wealthy in the 9th and 10th centuries.

Grossenbreden was merged with the "Law for the reorganization of the district of Höxter" from December 2, 1969 to January 1, 1970 with the other twelve municipalities of the Vörden district to form the town of Marienmünster.
