Papenhöfen is a district of the city of Marienmünster in the district of Höxter , North Rhine-Westphalia . 216 inhabitants live in Papenhöfen today.

The village is dominated by agriculture and is located on a plateau. The chapel, built in 1960, is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua .

Schoolchildren go to the elementary school in Kollerbeck or the secondary school in Vörden . The secondary schools and high schools that can be reached are in Brakel , Höxter or Steinheim .

history

Papenhöfen, like Großenbreden and Kleinenbreden , emerged from the village of Wenden around 1600 . The place was mentioned in the registers of Corvey monastery around 980 as Wynithun . It was here that monks from Marienmünster Abbey earned their tithes . In the 16th century the area was divided into the villages of Großenbreden, Kleinenbreden and Papenhöfen, which are now all districts of the city of Marienmünster. The Bönekenberg farmers belong to Papenhöfen and have only had this name since around 1430. It emerged from the abandoned village of Mechtestorpe or Mestorp , where goods belonging to the Corvey monastery were already in the 9th and 10th centuries.

Papenhöfen was merged with the other twelve municipalities of the Vörden district to the town of Marienmünster with the law on the reorganization of the Höxter district of December 2, 1969 on January 1, 1970 .
