The Hammerbach is an approximately 7.2 km long orographic left or northern tributary of the Diemel in the East Westphalian district of Höxter in North Rhine-Westphalia . It flows from the southern foothills of the Eggegebirge and flows in the southern part of the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge Nature Park .

The Hammerbach rises in the southern foothills of the Egge Mountains around 2.3 km northwest of the former Hardehausen monastery , which in turn is around 3 km north-northwest of the Warburg district of Scherfede .
