Scherfede is a district of Warburg , Höxter district in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ) with 3046 inhabitants.
Geographical location
Scherfede is located on the southern roof of the Eggegebirge in the southern part of the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park, about 9.5 km (as the crow flies ) northwest of the Warburg city center. It is located on the lower reaches of the Diemel , into which the Hammerbach flows in Scherfede-West .
history
The first evidence is a stone box grave found in 1906 in the "White Wood" near Rimbeck from around 2200 BC. It is a 13.5 × 2 m megalithic grave for around 200 people.
Scherfede was first mentioned in a document around 825 as a scerua in the Corvey Monastery register of properties . A Saxon servant named Heio is the first resident of the village known by name. The first church was built around 830.
There are the following historical names for the current place name Scherfede: Scherve, Schervede, Sherwede and Scherwede.
The castle Blankenrode was built around 1190 and cremated 1395th The village of Blankenrode , which is now a district of Lichtenau and is located northwest of Scherfede , emerged about 1.5 kilometers to the west .
In the Middle Ages and in the early modern period until the ecclesiastical principalities were dissolved , Scherfede was part of the Paderborn Monastery and remained largely unaffected by the Reformation .
In 1802 Scherfede fell to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1807 it became the property of the Kingdom of Westphalia . In 1813 it belonged again to Prussia.
In 1872, the first locomotive ran the railway line Hagen Warburg Kassel in Station Scherfede , located in the neighboring district of Warburg Rimbeck located. Four years later, in 1876, the Holzminden – Scherfede railway was opened. The Scherfeder Hospital was inaugurated in 1887.
On January 1, 1975, Scherfede became part of the new town of Warburg due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
The station building was demolished in 1983.

Scherfede station is on the Schwerte – Warburg railway line . Until the 1970s, the Braunschweig-Mönchengladbach express train ran with through coaches from Kassel or Bebra , which were relocated in Scherfede. Today only the Upper Ruhr Valley Railway (Hagen–) Schwerte – Bestwig – Brilon Wald – Warburg (–Kassel) is in operation; the Holzminden – Scherfede railway line, however, is closed. The Scherfede depot consisted of a semicircular shed with 16 stands, 2 coal bans and treatment facilities. The length of the side tracks was 5,101 meters in 1932, with track 21 in the southern area being 651 meters long.
In 1926 a bus connection was set up between Scherfede and Paderborn , which still exists today (bus route S85) .
Scherfede is on the A 44 , the next junction are the Diemelstadt and Marsberg exits .
