Rimbeck (Warburg)

Rimbeck is a district of Warburg , Höxter district in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ) with about 1603 inhabitants and is located about nine kilometers west of the city center.

history

The first finds for a settlement in Rimbeck can be found from the period 2000–500 BC. BC ( earthworks by Rimbeck ). In 837 Rimbeck was mentioned in the traditions of the Corvey Benedictine Abbey . Hardehausen Monastery was founded in 1140 and became dependent on it through the acquisition of land. In the period between 1436 and 1448 the place received village rights for the first time. In the tax register from 1578, 400 residents were identified in Rimbeck. In 1580 a mill was built on the Diemel . In 1905 the newly built St. Elisabeth Church was completed. A milk factory was built in Rimbeck in 1952.

On January 1, 1975, Rimbeck was incorporated into the city of Warburg.

economy

One of the large companies in Rimbeck is the dairy factory founded in 1952. Today the plant belongs to the Deutsches Milchkontor (DMK) and the company's headquarters are in Bremen. So far there are 80 jobs in Rimbeck. The Rimbeck plant produces 29,000 tons of butter and 210 million liters of long-life milk per year, and processes between 800,000 and 1 million liters of raw milk every day. There is also an external warehouse in Warburg. The butter production was stopped in 2013. As a result of reduced milk volumes, DMK plans to close the Rimbeck plant in 2018.
