Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The station Scherfede located in Warburg district Rimbeck . Up until the middle of the 20th century , a railway depot gave it a comparatively high level of railway operational importance. From 1876 to 2001 the railway line to Holzminden branched off from the Upper Ruhr Valley Railway Hagen –Warburg– Kassel at Scherfede station .
history
In 1872 the first locomotive passed the Scherfede station on the Hagen – Warburg – Kassel railway line ( Upper Ruhr Valley Railway ).
Four years later, on October 15, 1876, the Holzminden – Scherfede railway was opened. Passenger traffic on this route ceased on June 2, 1984, goods traffic on this route from Scherfede on June 10, 2001. The commissioning of this route made Scherfede a branch station , which resulted in the establishment of an independent railway depot . To the west of the traffic station, a 17-person semicircular house with workshop rooms was set up as the central facility (until the plant was closed) .
Before and during the Second World War , the importance of the station and the depot increased. The important east-west traffic resulted in a three-digit number of train journeys per day, numerous trains were put together in the station. By air raids during the war there was severe damage, while the roof of was roundhouse destroyed in depot.
On February 22, 1945 there was an air raid on the Scherfeder train station, in which a signal box was completely destroyed and several buildings in the area were burned . Three people were killed in the process. Another bombing raid took place on March 21, 1945. On April 3, 1945, after the withdrawal of German troops, the place and with it the train station was occupied by American soldiers.
In the post-war period , the station was heavily frequented for hamster trips to the fertile Warburg Börde . The station, depot and railway maintenance office had around 400 employees during this time. In the following years, the importance fell sharply. The depot lost its independence and was operated as an outstation of the Warburg depot for a short time from May 1950, and the site has been used privately since the mid-1950s. Stands 16 and 17 of the locomotive shed were retained, the water tower was blown up in the early 1970s.
The station building of Scherfeder Bahnhof was demolished in 1983.
There were two signal boxes at Scherfeder Bahnhof, which were put into operation in 1915. The western signal box is no longer used for rail operations, but privately, the eastern signal box is still occupied. Scherfede station is not yet connected to an electronic signal box .
As part of the so-called "Modernization Offensive 3", the NWL, as the responsible body, plans to carry out
renovations at the station in the implementation period 2016-2023 , including a wheelchair-accessible central platform with a usable length of 170 m and an edge height of 76 cm as well as new signage and lighting.Current operation
