The Thune , in the upper reaches of Strothe , is a 24.5 km long orographically right tributary of the Lippe in North Rhine-Westphalia .

course

The Thune rises as Strothe in the Eggegebirge in the Düstergrund northwest of Veldrom . From its source, the water initially flows briefly in a westerly direction, but then turns to the south-west and flows in the valley between Barnacken and Hohlstein steeply down to Kohlstädt and on to Schlangen . Here the Strothe takes on the Sternhofbach, which rises in Oesterholz, from the right , flows northwest past Schlangen and touches the northwest of Bad Lippspringes . At Diebesweg, the Strothe takes the 7 km long Lutter from the right ; from this point on the water is called "Thune". The Thune continues to flow to the southwest, takes the Grimke from the right and reaches Paderborn - Sennelager . After flowing through the Sennelager district of Paderborn, it also takes in the Mömmenbach from the right . Before the tuna at 95  m above sea level. NN in the east of Paderborn- Sande located Lippesee opens, dükert the river to Boker channel . The Thune continues to flow through the Lippesee and then flows into the Lippe after a distance of 22 km.

Originally the tuna flowed east of Sande into the Lippe. After the creation and constant enlargement of the Lippe Lake in the 1970s and 1980s, the Thune flows into the lake, where it flowed to the Lippe until 2005. In 2005 the Lippe lake flood was put into operation; Since then, the Lippe has been diverted around the lake to the south and the tuna only flows to it south of Sande about 200 meters behind the lake's dam.

The Thune overcomes a height difference of 265 meters during its flow section, resulting in an average bed slope of 10.8 ‰.

Tributaries

In addition to one nameless one, the Thune has four named tributaries, which are listed below when viewed downstream:

  • Lutter: 6.873 km long, right tributary at KM 6.0, catchment area: 5.981 km²
  • Grimke: 8.717 km long, right tributary at KM 4.5, catchment area: 11.725 km²
  • Mömmenbach: 6.974 km long, right tributary at KM 1.0, catchment area: 6.128 km²
  • Roter Bach : 13.619 km long, right tributary of the Lippesees , catchment area 21.09 km²

All length information according to the Land Survey Office of North Rhine-Westphalia - km 0 is above the Lippesees, within and below which the flow length is about 2.1 km!

Special

To the north of Schlangen there is a drain, where a smaller part of the water is branched off from the Strothe, which then flows as a Schlänger Bach through Schlangen. In snakes, the Schlänger Bach on the left side absorbs the water of the very rarely flowing brook from the Long Valley, a typical dry valley . The Schlänger Bach flows further to Bad Lippspringe. To the south of the Dedinghausen estate, the brook takes up the water from a spring that only spills out from time to time, from here on the brook is called Thunebach . The Jordan, which rises from the source of the Jordan, flows towards the Thunebach in the Jordanpark in Bad Lippspring and takes this name for the section up to the confluence with the Lippe, which is in Bad Lippspringe after about one kilometer.
