The Senne north of Oesterholz is a nature reserve in Schlangen- Oesterholz in the Lippe district .
Characteristic
The small nature reserve is located on the edge of the training area Senne and has typical features of the Senne landscape: on the nutrient-poor sandy soil sandy growing thin grass and heather dominate as trees birches and pines. The flat heathland has a high biodiversity. In earlier times, the sand on the northern edge was mined down to the marl layer below . In the pit, water collects in places and thus promotes the growth of moisture-loving and loamy soil-loving species.
An archaeological trail with barrows from the Bronze Age connects to the nature reserve .
