The Emkental is a nature reserve in Schlangen in the Lippe district .

Characteristic

The nature reserve is located east of Schlangen and is part of the Paderborn plateau natural area . The terrain is characterized by its incised dry valleys . The stony, calcareous soil is covered by a thin layer of earth. In the center of the nature reserve there is a small mixed forest of oak, ash and spruce and a woodruff beech forest on the southern slope. The environment is determined by arable land and meadows and pastures.

Various orchid species , which originally led to protection, have hardly been proven for years.
