The latter then flows south through snakes. At Gut Dedinghausen the brook changes its name and is now called Thunebach . Here the course turns to the southwest and reaches the eastern edge of Bad Lippspringe . A little later, the stream flows through the Jordan Park. Here the Thunebach flows from the source of the Jordan springing Jordan to and gives the river its name for the section to the mouth of the lip.

About 900 meters after the source, the Jordan divides into two arms. The arm flowing off to the left already flows into the Lippe after about 100 meters, the main arm continues to flow parallel to the Lippe for about 1.5 kilometers until it also flows into the Lippe in the urban area of Bad Lippspringe.

Jordan Spring

The Jordan Spring in Jordan Park

The Jordan spring is located about 500 meters above the Lippe spring , where the Jordan rises from a karst spring. The pouring out of the three spring outlets is heavily dependent on the precipitation and can even dry up in hot summers . The flowing Jordan joins after a few meters with the Thunebach coming from the east, which takes its name.

Origin of the name of the Jordan

In the Jordan, Charlemagne is said to have carried out the so-called Saxon baptism in 776. Carrying out such a baptism was a condition of Charlemagne in order to consent to the Saxon submission to end the Saxon Wars .
