The Toppmannsbach is a 2.1 km long orographically right tributary of the Reiherbach in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

River course

The Toppmannsbach rises above the Klashofsiedlung in the Windelsbleiche district, which belongs to the Bielefeld district of Senne, and flows in a south-westerly direction following the flattening of the Teutoburg Forest . After the water has flowed through the place, it reaches the private nature reserve Rieselfelder Windel and runs through this area in the northern area. To the west of the Rieselfelder and north of the Windflöte district , which also belongs to Senne , the Toppmannsbach finally flows into the Reiherbach. It forms the border of the neighboring nature reserves Black Fens and the Reiherbach and Röhrbach .

The water overcomes a height difference of 18 meters during its flow path, resulting in an average bed gradient of 8.6 ‰.

Characteristic

The Toppmannsbach has a sand bed that is typical of the Senne brooks and, especially in the upper reaches, it occasionally dries up. In the area of the Rieselfelder Windel, the water quality of the stream was in a very poor condition until the 1990s when the area was still being used for wastewater treatment by the Windel textile company, but has improved again since the northern Rieselfeld areas were closed. Nevertheless, according to the water quality report from 2008, water quality class II-III and thus the classification "critically polluted" still applies .
