The Babenhausener Bach (also called Babenhauser Bach ) is an approximately 3.8 km long orographically left tributary of the Gellershagener Bach in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany , which has its source in the city of Bielefeld , in the Dornberg district , and flows into the Schildesche district of Bielefeld .

course

The Babenhausen brook arises west of Bielefeld University as the confluence of several spring arms within the Dornberger Auenpark. From this floodplain forest , which is mainly composed of oaks and beeches, the water flows off in a north-easterly direction, passes Babenhausen to the south and then crosses the Gellershagen district , where it joins the Gellershagener Bach from the left about 100 m west of Jöllenbecker Straße.

The water overcomes a height difference of around 20 meters along its course, resulting in an average bed gradient of 5.3 ‰.

Water quality

The water quality of the creek Babenhausen is located, according to the water quality report from 2008 throughout the course in a critically loaded state (class II-III).
