The Krullsbach is an orographically right tributary of the Lutter in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . It has a length of 8.5 km.

River course

The Krullsbach rises just in the area of the city of Bielefeld southwest of the Ummeln district in an agricultural area and already crosses the city limits of Gütersloh after a few hundred meters . Coming from the north-east, the water then runs through the Gütersloh district of Isselhorst .

The Krullsbach then flows in a westerly direction through the “Obere Lutter” sewage treatment plant, which was commissioned in 1967, and in this area crosses mainly parkland . It then touches the Gütersloh district of Niehorst in the south , then crosses the border of the town of Harsewinkel and finally flows into the Lutter east of the Marienfeld district .

The water overcomes a height difference of 18 meters during its flow path, resulting in an average bed slope of 2.1 ‰.

Water structure

In the upper reaches of the Krullsbach, in particular, it shows up in many places as a ditch-like and not very natural body of water, which in the Isselhorst area is sometimes also used as a street side water. A relocation and subsequent renaturation of the Bachaue should take place in the near future.
