Site plan of the nature reserve

The valley of the Bramschebach and the tributary Nagelsbach are under nature protection over a river length of 6 km. The nature reserve Bramschebach- / Nagelsbachtal is mainly located (around 105.9 ha) in Herford and the smaller part (around 87.5 ha) in Löhne and has a total size of 193.3  ha . Formally, the nature reserve consists of two nature reserves, which, however, form a spatial unit. The area has been protected since 1995/1996. The Bachtal is characterized as a natural and widely ramified sieve system typical of the Ravensberger Land . The Siek-Kastental has slopes up to 8 m high. In the valley floor there are ash trees , willows and alders , rows of trees and fruit trees . Around the no longer near-natural fish ponds are some near-natural small bodies of water with floating plants and reed beds. The valley floor is predominantly characterized as wet grassland. The valley slopes are covered with beeches . The wetlands in the area are particularly worthy of protection.
