The Napte is a 10.7 km long orographically left tributary of the Emmer in East Westphalia-Lippe .

course

The Napte rises in Horn-Bad Meinberg Kreuzenstein at an altitude of 215 m. From its source, the water initially flows in a south-easterly direction, passes Buschkamp and Vahlhausen, flows south past the Norderteich and reaches Billerbeck. Behind Billerbeck (former Mattenmühle) the brook turns to the northeast and flows parallel to the L 823. After taking up the Niederbeller brook and crossing under the B 252, the Napte joins the Emmer on the left in Wöbbel at KM 38.6. The mouth height is 125 m.

River length

According to the information provided by the State Surveying Office of North Rhine-Westphalia, the total length of the Napte is given as 10.73 km. In the German basic map and in linguistic usage, the first 2.1 km of the body of water are referred to as Knickbach. The land surveying office calls this stream "Napte". In contrast, a stream that rises 1 km further south in a moorland is referred to in the German basemap and in linguistic usage as "Napte". This stream has a total length of 1.862 km. If this brook is viewed as the upper reaches of the Napte, the total length of the Napte is 11.1 km.

Tributaries

Numerous streams flow to the Napte:

  • The first major tributary, depending on the perspective of the origin of the Napte (see section on river length), is the 2.1 km long Knickbach or the 1.9 km long nameless body of water, which is referred to as Napte in the German basemap. The confluence of the two streams is to the west of Buschkamp.
  • The next larger tributary, a nameless body of water with a length of 1.3 km, flows into the Napte on the left in Vahlhausen at KM 7.9 at 161 m altitude. It rises on the western edge of the Beller Holz near Kohlenberg at an altitude of 212 m.
  • West of Billerbeck, another nameless body of water with a length of 2.6 km flows into the Napte at KM 6.0. The stream rises in the Beller Holz at a height of 188 m and after 1.7 km it reaches the Norderteich, which it feeds with its water through damming. Another 500 m after the outflow from the Norderteich, the water flows into the Napte at a height of 150 m on the left.
  • At KM 1.1 the Napte flows into another 2 km long and nameless stream.
  • The largest tributary of the Napte is the Niederbeller Bach with a length of 7.4 km. It rises south of Reelkirchen im Beller Holz at a height of 218 m from two sources that unite after a few meters. In its course the Niederbeller Bach passes the villages Oberbelle and Niederbelle before it joins the Napte at 125 m at KM 0.7 on the left. The above-ground catchment area of the Niederbeller Bach is 8.7 km².

In addition to the tributaries mentioned, there are a few other small streams, but they are so insignificant that they neither have a name nor have their length been measured.

environment

The Napte is assigned to water quality class II along its entire length . This means that it is moderately stressed.
