The Fronberg is 592 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Sauwald in Upper Austria . It is located in the community of Schardenberg and is one of Passau's local mountains . There is a lookout tower and the mountain on the ORF - transmitter Schardenberg . East of the summit is the Fatima pilgrimage chapel in the Fronwald .
From Fronberg the view extends to Passau, far into the Bavarian, Bavarian Forest, Bohemian Forest and the Innviertel .
Hiking trails lead from Passau, Wernstein am Inn and Schärding to the Fronberg and to Schardenberg.
Fronbergwarte
An observation tower has existed on the Fronberg since 1886. The originally wooden one was replaced by today's masonry control room due to its disrepair, which innkeepers Karl and Hans Hermannseder had built in 1929/30. There is an excursion inn right next to the control room. In 2016 the control room was closed due to dilapidation.
